All your anxiety, all your care …

After reading Psalm 94, see yesterday on Hope4Bath, several verses seemed very relevant for the challenges we face today:

  • verse 9 ‘He who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He who formed the eye, shall He not see?’
  • verse 11 ‘The Lord knows the thoughts of man, that they are futile’.
  • verse 19 ‘In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul’

Often, life does seem to have no ready answers, no help at hand, no one to understand. Psalm 94 will tell us differently and it is the God of heaven who is the One to come to our aid.

  • verse 9 God hears.
  • verse 11 God knows.
  • verse 19 God helps.

The words of an old hymn say it all:

Is there a heart o’erbound by sorrow? Is there a life weighed down by care?
Come to the cross, each burden bearing; all your anxiety—leave it there.

All your anxiety, all your care, bring to the mercy seat, leave it there,
Never a burden He cannot bear, never a friend like Jesus!

No other friend so swift to help you, no other friend so quick to hear,
No other place to leave your burden, no other one to hear your prayer.

Come then at once; delay no longer! Heed His entreaty kind and sweet,
You need not fear a disappointment; you shall find peace at the mercy seat.

Thank God, Never a friend like Jesus!
