How easily satisfied are you? What would lead you to say, ‘It is enough!’? We live among people who are never satisfied; therefore, it is easy to get drawn into this culture. The Bible speaks about four things that will never say, ‘It is enough’, Proverbs chapter 30 verses 15-16:

  • the grave – its capacity for claiming more dead is limitless

  • the barren womb – the intense anguish of a woman who longs for a child

  • the earth that is not filled with water – it has constant need of rain for crops to flourish

  • the fire – it ‘demands’ fuel in order to continue burning

And what about yourself?

  • does death hold any fears for you? Do you view death as ‘sleep’? – as the prelude to better things? Do you believe the time will come, when God will say to Death, ‘ENOUGH!’ and ‘death and hell will be cast into the lake of fire’, Revelation chapter 20 verse 14. Can you say with Christians, ‘O Death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory . . . thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ’, 1 Corinthians chapter 15 verses 55, 57.

  • are you satisfied with a ‘barren’ spiritual life that is devoid of hope and peace?

  • do you, like the earth, have a constant desire for the ‘water’ of the Word of God (the Bible) to sustain you?

  • do you have a ‘spiritual fire’ within you that longs to tell others of God’s salvation?

Can you say to Christ, I shall be satisfied when I awake with in your likeness’, Psalm 17 verse 15?
