I will not forget you!

At the time of writing, 41,500 people have died in the UK from the coronavirus. Politicians have stressed that they will never be forgotten. Although this might be a well-intentioned statement, most people doubt whether it will be so. As frail human beings, we are guilty of pushing painful memories into the backs of our minds and forgetting that they ever happened.

One of the closest bonds on earth is that between a mother and her child. It is almost unthinkable that a mother would ever forget, or cease caring about, her child. Sadly, we look around us and discover many abandoned and uncared for children. The unthinkable can, and does, happen! We praise God that He will never forsake His ‘children’. He says, through Isaiah the prophet, ‘Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely, they may forget, yet will I not forget you’, Isaiah chapter 49 verse 15.

As we are those who have forsaken God, we deserve to be abandoned by Him; nevertheless, He sent His Son, the Lord Jesus into the world to be our Saviour. Of those, who put their trust in Him, God says, ‘I will NEVER leave you nor forsake you’, Hebrews chapter 13 verse 5.
