Recently, much attention has been focussed on Care Homes throughout the UK, where many have died from the corona virus. Understandably, many carers in the homes feel that they are the forgotten front-line workers and wonder whether anyone cares. As I prayed for them today, I recalled when Jesus’s disciples felt they would perish in a storm on a lake. They awoke Him and cried, ‘Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?’ He showed them that He cared; therefore, ‘He arose . . . and said to the sea, “Peace be still” …’ Mark chapter 4 verses 38-39.
We face ‘storms’ in our lives, when we feel vulnerable, e.g. during this pandemic. We might even feel like crying to God, ‘Do you not care that we are perishing?’ Peter, one of the disciples in the storm on the lake, later wrote, ‘Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you’, 1 Peter chapter 5 verse 7. God has shown that He cares about us by sending His only Son, the Lord Jesus to die on the cross to be our Saviour.
